3 July 2014 – The IMCO Committee held its constituent meeting on 7 July 2014 following the election of its members by the European Parliament on 3 July. During this meeting, Vicky Ford (ECR/UK) was elected by acclamation as the new Chair of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer protection. The Committee also elected by acclamation its Vice-Chairs: Anna Maria Corazza Bildt (EPP/SV), Robert Rochefort (ALDE/FR), Catherine Stihler (S&D/EN) and Sergio Cofferati (S&D/IT). Together, the Chair and Vice-Chairs make up the Bureau of the Committee, elected for a two-and-a-half year term. The newly set up committees will hold a first preparatory meeting of its Coordinators open to all IMCO Members. This (in camera) meeting will serve for an informal exchange of views with European Commission Director-Generals of DG ENTR, DG MARKT, DG SANCO and DG CONNECT.
